Barbara and her Spanish husband Paco divide their time between Barcelona and their home in the Yorkshire Dales. Their 2019 exhibition Passing Through is their first collaborative exhibition of photography and prose.
Cumbrian author Barbara was inspired to become a writer when working in her career with the succession dramas and multi-generational stories of her family-run business clients. After studying creative writing on short courses on-line, Barbara went on to complete the M. Litt. in Creative Writing with Distinction at Glasgow University on 2018. Barbara enjoys blending events and characters from modern history into biographical fiction as well as writing contemporary stories highlighting family and community dynamics.
Paco’s life-long love and study of photography has taken him across the world in search of light, contrast and story. After many years of business travel, Paco realized that everything he wished to convey photographically was available at home – right on his doorsteps – in the Yorkshire Dales in the UK and near Barcelona, Spain. Paco is currently working on a number of projects in Spain and the UK involving his love of seascape, landscape and nature-wildlife photography. The common denominator in his work is revisiting his carefully chosen subjects over many years, such that their stories and character are continually revealed through the deepening relationship between the subjects, himself and his cameras.
